ok, so you're probably thinking "wtf is oil pulling?"
yeah, that's what i said too. but then i read about it and now i'm totally fascinated. i'm already on day 5, and i feel like it's part of my "new" morning routine.
a little background on what exactly it is. it's been around for a long time. it's an ayurvedic remedy that helps strip your body of toxins, and cleanses and freshens your mouth at the same time. some of the benefits that i've read about are listed below:
- hormone imbalances
- skin conditions (rosacea, acne, etc)
- liver problems
honestly, i'm doing it for the benefit that is has on your teeth (natural whitening) and also reducing the chances of gum disease, cavities, and helping to freshen breath. i also suffer from fairly bad TMJ, so I hope that it has a positive effect on that as well.

the first time i did it, it was really weird. the oil starts in semi solid form, and then as it heats up and melts with the temperature of the inside of your mouth, it turns to oil and you can start swishing. i have no idea how long i will keep this up, but for the time being, i think there's something to it.
